Banner ads
Every page on this website has an advertisement at the bottom. This takes the form of a long rectangular picture (called a "banner ad") with a short one-line slogan underneath it. When you click on a banner ad or on the accompanying text, you are taken stright to the website of the advertiser who sponsored it. Banner ads are a great way of increasing the number of visitors to your website. They may also help your website to rank higher in the lists of results produced by search engines.
The banner ads at the bottom of our web pages are cycled randomly through up to three different adverts.
Producing your banner
Your banner should take the form of a web image (a GIF, JPEG or PNG file) with standard dimensions of 468 x 60 pixels. Animated GIF files usually produce the best results. Please ensure that the image file is no larger than 80 KB. You can either send your banners to us to have them incorporated into our website, or you can host them on your own website and provide us with the address (URI) where we can find them. The latter approach is recommended, because then you are free to change the banner at any time.
You should also provide up to 80 characters of text to appear directly beneath your banner, and the address of the web page you want users to visit when they click on the banner. If you do not have your own website, we can provide a page for you in our website, based on your specifications. However, this is not a free service, and may take some time to organise.
How much does it cost?
To place a banner ad on this website for one year costs £15.00 (equivalent to about 4.1p per day) for members and £20.00 (about 5.5p per day) for non-members.

Terms and Conditions
The following terms and conditions apply to all advertising contracts with the Anglo-Japanese Society of Wessex:
- The Anglo-Japanese Society of Wessex reserves the right to refuse applications for advertising, and to withdraw without warning any advertisement that contravenes these Terms and Conditions.
- All advertisements must comply with the British Code of Advertising Practice, and must not contain material or links to any sites containing material that is defamatory, obscene, offensive, abusive, racist, threatening, menacing, harassing, indecent, or in breach of confidence, copyright, privacy or any other rights.
- The Anglo-Japanese Society of Wessex will not be liable for any loss caused by error, late publication or the failure of an advertisement to appear from any cause whatsoever.
- All payments for advertising contracts must be made in full before the advert is published.
- If you cancel a contract before the agreed start date, you may be eligible for the following cancellation charges:
Up to 4 weeks prior to agreed start date: 50% of total rate chargeable
Between 4 weeks and 1 week prior to agreed start date: 75% of total rate chargeable
Less than 1 week prior to agreed start date: 100% of total rate chargeable. - Under no circumstance does the placing of an order confer the right to renew on similar terms.
